Biography

Albert was born in Barcelona, Spain, but moved to the UAE when he was 6 years old. He learnt to dive when he was 13, and during high school volunteered at Azraq, a marine conservation NGO. Albert completed his Bachelor’s at the University of Plymouth, where he earned his commercial diving qualification and a wide range of field and lab work experiences. At Plymouth, Albert's research focused on monitoring and quantifying fish communities across habitat types, with a particular focus on commercially important species.

Albert has always been extremely passionate about fish and fisheries, and at KAUST he hopes to advance our understanding of the community ecology of fish communities across the Red Sea.
