Casey’s childhood dream was crushed when he was beaten to the first photographic evidence of live giant squid. He has since devoted himself to study, research, and exploration of the world in pursuit of a new and equally grandiose zoological dream. Casey graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012 summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology. He joined Dr. Berumen’s lab at KAUST in the same year, excited for the opportunity to explore the Red Sea. He completed his Master's degree on squid stress physiology in December 2013 and is currently pursuing a PhD in MIT.
Casey also has a B.A. in Anthropology from FGCU. He specializes in archaeology, which remains a research interest and passion, focusing on the impacts of the relationship between humans, animals, and the environment across time.
