Biography

Since a young age, Clara has been interested in studying and exploring the oceans, so she decided to pursue a degree in Environmental Sciences at the University of Oldenburg, Germany. She spent the last year in Spain, studying at the University of Cádiz and doing an internship at the University of Alicante researching microplastic pollution at a local beach.

During her degree, she had the opportunity to go on an excursion to Sulawesi, Indonesia, to learn more about coral reefs and gain experience in conducting surveys in the water. She also interned at an NGO in Madagascar focused on marine conservation and coral restoration, where she gained her Divemaster certification.

At KAUST, she is working on her final thesis studying seasonal and cross-shelf variation in the benthic communities of different reefs in the Red Sea.
