Hanna was born in Düsseldorf, Germany. She first became interested in marine biology at an early age while in grade school. Hanna is currently completing a B.S. in Computational Biology at the Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf. In April 2019 she attended a Plant Science Workshop at KAUST. During this workshop, Hanna learned about the work performed in the Reef Ecology Lab and was especially fascinated by topics concerning population genetics. During her time as a VSRP Intern at KAUST, she will be focusing on the analysis of shark population phylogenetics and will write her bachelors thesis on this topic.
